Who Is Going To Save Us?

Have you ever been to Chuck E. Cheese and sat back to watch the little ones in the ball pit? They’re having a great time, giggling, chasing, diving into the balls. You sit back and smile, happy to watch, pleased they are enjoying themselves, but you yourself have no desire to jump into that pit.

That’s how the aliens view us. They keep their distance and allow us to do what we will do. They often enjoy our antics and feel great love and compassion for our struggles. But they really do not want to jump into our ball pit with us.

People often expect aliens or a religious figure to come save us, but that’s not how it works. We have to save ourselves. We have to save each other. We came into this life knowing it was up to us, but somehow we forgot or just got overwhelmed with the thought of it.

Get Together written by Chet Powers, performed by the Youngbloods, 1967

In the 1960s there was a tremendous effort to make a difference in the world. Women's rights, civil rights, war protests were in full swing. Our government was focused on scientific achievements like sending men to the moon. The music reflected the passion of the times.

Then somehow things went astray; leaders were assassinated, war broke out, flower children cut their hair and went to work in the corporate world. Now, another generation has passed and the opportunity has cycled around again, giving humans another chance at making the changes we grasped but lost in the 1960s.

Have you ever heard the story about the difference between heaven and hell? A man died and was given a choice whether he wanted to go to heaven or hell, so he asked to see them both. His guide took him to hell first. They arrived at an incredible banquet hall, with tables heaped up with food and drinks of all kinds. The aromas were overwhelming and mouth-watering. Golden goblets overflowed with wine, fountains flowed with exotic chocolate pouring over ripe luscious berries. The man turned to his Guide and said, “How can this be hell?” The Guide gestured to the people who, gaunt and weak, tried in vain to stuff the food into their mouths but they had two-foot-long forks and spoons attached to the ends of their arms instead of hands. They could not feed themselves.

The Guide then took the man to heaven. Imagine the man’s surprise as an identical scene unfolded, right down to the golden goblets and the people with long-handled forks and spoons

attached to their arms. The difference was that these people were laughing, happy, smiling as they feasted. They could not feed themselves either – but they were feeding one another.

It’s time to save our Earth. It’s time to save ourselves. It’s time to save each other. It’s time to start feeding each other even if our hands feel useless. We have the tools to work it out, if we rely on each other.

In numerology the 1900s were the "me" era, the number 1 (1+9+0+0=10, 1+0=1), with people going solo and depending on only themselves. At the turn of the year/decade/century/millenium from 1999 (1+9+9+9=28, 2+8=10, 1+0=1) to 2000 (2+0+0+0=2), there was a subtle shift in vibration from 1 to 2, which reflects an era of partnership, sharing, trust, and cooperation instead of competition. We are only 17 years into this new age but the children born at that time are now on the brink of adulthood, and with the right incentives and inspiration they can guide us back onto the path that was carved out of the jungle in the 1960s but then abandoned. Many of us who heard the call as children in the 1960s are still poised at the ready to join in if we can, and just as many have passed the torch to our children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, young people in our lives, teaching them about tending gardens, tending their souls, and reaching for the stars.

The aliens are joyfully cheering us on from the sidelines of our ball pit, but we're the ones engulfed in the midst of it. We have to take the initiative and help ourselves, help one another, and help Mother Earth. It's time to put aside differences and focus on common ground. Who you voted for doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but who you love does. The age/size/color/gender/model of human body you inhabit at this time doesn't matter, but how you treat others does.

C'mon people now,

Smile on your brother

Everybody get together

Try to Love everyone right now.
